Having spoken with various hire store managers of different companies. The overall conclusion is that having the availability of an alternative option for customers to pick up hired towed equipment rather than waiting for delivery and collection would greatly assist in closing out a potential hire opportunities. More so for the hirer who turns up ad-hoc desperate for an item of towed plant there an than! who can’t wait for the next delivery slot, but hasn’t got the correct hitch arrangement to make the collection. According to the managers that I have spoken to this happens on a regular basis especially with smaller builders and DIYers where the opportunity to close out a potential hire is than lost if the hire company is unable to make the delivery within a very short period of time. By holding a small number of Boxball hitches within each stores hired equipment range, the above missed hire can be mitigated with the Boxball hitch being hired alongside the item of equipment for a set fee. Most deliveries for plant and equipment carry a delivery and collection charge which in a lot of cases outweigh the cost of the hired equipment especially if this is required for only a short duration. If Plant Hire Companies were to consider holding a number of the Boxball hitch adapter this could be a win win! for both the customer and Hirer who then retain the hire opportunity and a contented customer.

Scanlan Hire Willaston “branch” will shortly be taking delivery of their first consignment of the Boxball hitch, where I am currently producing a short editorial for Executive Hire News which highlights the benefits of the Boxball hitch and why Scanlan have choosen to stock it in their hired equipment portfolio.
